June to October
First stop is the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall: take a walk behind it and prepare to take memorable pictures…and get wet! Then we will continue towards another magnificent waterfall in Iceland – Skogafoss. Here the staircase just alongside the waterfall takes you up so you can have a great view of Skógafoss and its surroundings.
The journey then continues to the Black Sand Beach, Reynisfjara. This famous beach, close to the charming fishing village Vík, will surprise you with its black sand, amazing rock formations, basalt columns and basalt stacks sticking out from the rough sea. Take some time to take pictures of the beautiful views the black sand beach offers you before our lunch break in Vík.
After lunch, we will drive through lava fields and the black volcanic sand desert of Skeidararsandur all the way to Skaftafell National Park, where you can enjoy the view over three glacier tongues from Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. Last stop and highlight of the tour is Jökulsárlón, the spectacular Glacier Lagoon. Blue, white and black blocks of ancient ice that have fallen off the glacier’s edge are floating in the lagoon and slowly making their way to the ocean. If you are lucky, you might spot some seals resting on the icebergs.
You will be able to feel the magic of Iceland by walking along the so-called Diamond beach or Crystal beach, a black sand beach near the Glacier Lagoon where icebergs washed up on the shore create breathtaking views. On the way back to Reykjavik, there will be a dinner stop.
