Snorkeling in hot springs is usually impossible as the water is way too hot but in Iceland, in Lake Kleifarvatn, you have the chance to snorkel over a hot spring! Just a 30 minutes drive from Reykjavik, the stunning Lake Kleifarvatn hides some underwater hot springs, only about a 50 meters swim from the shore. As you enter the lake, you can see the white and yellow sulphur deposits on the lake floor, then the environment around will change as you swim closer to the bubbling hot springs at the bottom of the lake…it will be like swimming in a glass of Champagne!
After this sparkling swim, we will enjoy some refreshments back on land before we head to to Seltún, a nearby geothermal area where you can walk along boiling mud pots and colourful sulphur deposits.
Travelling is about making memories, and we guarantee you won’t forget that time you snorkeled in an Icelandic hot spring.
